Pothencode (Thiruvananthapuram): The messages of NavajyothiSree Karunakara Guru are becoming increasingly relevant with each passing day, said Minister for Transport C.P. John. He observed that people visit Santhigiri with their families because the Ashram offers peace and harmony not only to individuals but to families as a whole. There is no distinction between the rich and the poor, or the great and the small, among the families who follow the teachings of the Guru. Santhigiri is an Ashram that has put into practice the vision that “all human beings are equal,” the Minister said.
The Minister was inaugurating the Navapoojitham 99 Cultural Conference held at Santhigiri Ashram, Pothencode, as part of the 99th birthday observance of Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru.
A hundred years ago, when Sree Narayana Guru left this world, Sri Karunakara Guru was born for us, marking an important continuation of a spiritual vision, the Minister said. Sri Karunakara Guru was a spiritual master who made people understand that nature itself is spirituality.

The Minister recalled that around 25 years ago, when Kerala faced severe drought, the government of the time looked to Santhigiri as a model for rainwater harvesting. He said that it was Sri Karunakara Guru who demonstrated the importance of rainwater harvesting to Kerala. The Minister also recalled that, while serving on the Planning and Development Board, he had visited Santhigiri to understand these initiatives firsthand.
